Chapter 144 – Gun & Sword (1)
by Heavenly CatThe day before meeting Director Douglas.
After the brainwashed summoner was dragged away, Caroline told Sun-woo the story of investigating the terrorism.
“Through friends and informants remaining at headquarters, I could find several people Sun-woo told me.”
After terrorism hit the Korea branch, Sun-woo used ability to check the past of containers used in the terrorism.
Saw the scene loading beasts, but they were all people seen for the first time.
Sun-woo made montages of those people and handed them to Caroline, and Caroline found people with those montages.
“In the end, headquarters’ summoners were mixed up in this matter.”
“Yes. Hoped not, but probably like our branch they’ll be brainwashed people.”
“I wonder. Need to watch and see that.”
At Sun-woo’s words, Caroline’s expression darkened.
“Rather hope it was brainwashing.”
For Caroline, summoners betraying was hard to understand.
“More than that, why can’t Summoners notice brainwashed summoners.”
“Summoners aren’t gods. The point they see summoners seems to be around when conducting missions. So even the former Korea branch manager could collude with others behind Summoner’s back.”
“Really beings with clear limits.”
At Sun-woo’s words, Caroline also nodded agreeing.
“Anyway, since content about someone connected to terrorism among headquarters summoners was reported to Summoner through our branch manager, a separate mission will come down.”
***
“That’s how the story flowed so the mission dropped, and I was summoned to America.”
At Sun-woo’s explanation, Michael grumbled.
“Then contact me after the mission is made, why contact early making me suffer! If just followed those bastards’ backs, would’ve found quickly!”
Where Michael’s finger pointed, people were busily moving between containers.
Since distance was far Michael checked people with telescope, but Sun-woo could check with bare eyes by strengthening internal energy.
All were people Sun-woo saw when viewing the past in containers during terrorism.
Michael and Sun-woo were now at an animal farm east of San Francisco.
Sun-woo who was summoned to America through mission found Michael right after finishing talking with Director Douglas.
Like Caroline found people with montages after terrorism, Sun-woo also requested Michael to find the collection point confirmed in the container’s past.
At Sun-woo’s request, Michael billed costs as if natural, and Sun-woo billed the association again making wrinkles on the branch manager’s face.
Michael didn’t betray Sun-woo’s expectations.
When Sun-woo contacted, he already found where the container departed.
Sun-woo immediately ran to the place Michael mentioned, and now the two people met confirming the target.
A desert barely entered through one road.
Even in that remote place, an animal farm that sought out a quiet and wide field sitting alone in the middle.
From hearing threatening dogs’ barking sounds, seemed a kind of illegal hunting dog farm.
“Was really hard to find, there were really many such dog farms. Was extremely hard finding with only heard descriptions.”
Though time passed, as expected Michael didn’t change.
At the mercenary-like appearance trying to squeeze even one more cent, Sun-woo shook his head.
“Understood. Will talk to the association to get a bonus.”
“Okay. Then shall we start work?”
After hearing Sun-woo’s answer, Michael summoned his weapon and began installing it on the ground.
M82, anti-materiel sniper rifle.
The weapon he summoned was a large sniper rifle with beautiful design.
The most famous among powerful anti-tank sniper rifles that pierce armored vehicles.
A gun of tremendous size using 12.7mm bullets.
Sun-woo also watched for a while at the association’s underground armory.
“Cool right? Spent tremendous points to register this guy. Mana bullet costs are no joke either, but still like it very much.”
He installed the sniper rifle between bushes then put his eye to the scope aiming at the target.
“This time you don’t even need to step up. Not opponents of contaminated monsters but summoners, moreover if they’re our world summoners, there’s no one who can withstand this gun.”
Seeing the coolly styled gun, Sun-woo also felt he should agree with his words.
“But seems there are people you know among those there, is it okay?”
At Sun-woo’s words, Michael took his eye off the scope and looked at Sun-woo.
“What does it matter. Anyway being there means became enemies whether brainwashed or betrayed. For mercenaries who immediately fight even the previous operation’s comrades if money is involved, killing bastards who became enemies isn’t work.”
However, Michael’s eyes speaking twitched slightly.
“Anyway this time just guard me well. Make sure to wear earplugs.”
Sun-woo who received earplugs smiled bitterly seeing Michael putting his eye to the scope again.
“First one.”
Tang!
With an ear-splitting gunshot, one person among those gathered in the middle of containers collapsed.
***
Tang!
With a gunshot heard from somewhere, the upper body of the summoner beside was half torn off and flew away.
“What!”
When surprised people were looking around, summoners urgently threw their bodies behind containers.
Tang!
One person who couldn’t avoid until then got smashed on the spot.
Only then did other people also start scattering in all directions.
“It’s sniping!”
“This is an anti-materiel sniper gun!”
“Which bastard is it! Gang bastards? Or did we get caught?”
Summoners with backs against container walls shouted while summoning weapons.
Tang!
Tukwang!
The gunshot was heard again.
This time didn’t shoot at ordinary people.
Because Michael aimed thinking people who fled first were summoners.
The bullet pierced the container and erased the head of the summoner hiding behind.
“Damn! It’s a penetration shot! It’s Michael!”
“Then we’re caught!”
Summoners hiding behind containers started moving.
If the one who shot was Michael, hiding was useless. Having continuously trained his possessed sixth sense, he could now aim at people behind walls as if seeing them.
Tang!
With the gunshot, another person’s arm flew off. Even the summoner’s fast movement couldn’t avoid Michael’s sniping.
“Use the drug! Planning to use it after all dying?!”
At the cry of the summoner whose arm flew off, the other three summoners took out one syringe from their pocket and stuck it in their leg.
Kuaaaaa!
Instantly the summoners’ eyes turned red and bodies became turbid.
In the middle the gunshot rang once more blowing away the head of the summoner whose arm fell off, but other summoners all became contaminated.
They started moving much faster than before.
Two summoners started running toward the direction the gunshot was heard, and another summoner rather threw their body the opposite way.
***
[Starting the mission. Contamination source was generated. Please eliminate all.]
“Really fast too.”
Michael clicked his tongue at the voice heard. The mission just dropped now.
“Well, thanks to it can earn points as bonus which is good. Can they now make contamination sources like stamping?”
Michael spoke leisurely while aiming at contaminated summoners running across the field.
“Probably has restrictions. Either quantity insufficient. Or requires contaminated person’s consent. Or sufficiently exposed to contamination.”
“Is that so? Doesn’t matter as long as no infection. Then shall I earn points?”
Summoners running toward here were rapidly running forward repeatedly lying prone on the ground.
Though looked impossible to hit with guns from moving several times faster than track athletes, Michael looked not worried at all.
He quietly stopped breathing and waited for the running summoner to lie prone on the ground.
“Explosion.”
Michael whispered small after confirming the summoner in front lay prone behind a mound.
The chamber started glowing dimly then one streak of light left the barrel.
Kwang!
The bullet that flew making a faint thread of light exploded with a boom when hitting the mound where the summoner hid.
Thanks to that the hidden summoner flew far back, and soon lost life to the following bullet.
The summoner following from behind realized hiding was useless and started strengthening their body.
Their specialty sturdy body became even stronger while contaminated, looking like wearing black armor.
The contaminated summoner ran while shooting toward the direction bullets flew with hardened face.
“I said mana bullet costs are no joke right? Even so these are bullets with magic loaded. One gun makes possible from sniping to grenade launcher role.”
Michael aimed the gun toward the running summoner. Bullets passed around Sun-woo and Michael, but no bullets precisely aimed at the two people.
“Drill.”
Michael chanted the spell again, and the shining bullet pierced through the chest of the running summoner.
The contaminated summoner who lost their heart crumbled on the spot.
Michael stood up with a triumphant expression.
“Hehehehe, finally did I finish alone. Quickly praise! Praise!”
To Michael chattering excitedly, Sun-woo couldn’t bring himself to praise.
Not only the two summoners who ran over, but one summoner who ran the opposite way still remained.
Sun-woo’s sorcery detected other things.
Kuang!
From far where containers gathered, beast roars were heard, and soon dozens of wild dogs started running with red eyes raised.
All contaminated dogs, dogs that were locked in cages until just before.
Seemed the summoner who ran the other way earlier released prepared drugs contaminating them.
Kuaaaaaaang!
And behind the running dogs, one giant lion several times larger showed appearance.
A lion that’s a protected animal, definitely not an ordinary farm.
Michael was raising both hands rejoicing then saw contaminated beasts running over and quietly turned his head to Sun-woo.
When Sun-woo tilted his head, Michael spoke with a reluctant voice.
“Seems I need help.”
At his words, Sun-woo grinned.
“Then discussing distribution again?”
At Sun-woo’s words, Michael’s face crumpled.
“No, where did the past innocent guy go and became a human only bright about money!”
“Originally I liked money.”
Waving his hand to Michael, Sun-woo drew his sword.
“Then please guard me.”
Sun-woo ran forward.
He infused mana into the ring, and wolves were summoned one by one around him following behind.
Small Snow Cat that appeared before wolves ran vigorously at the very front as if leading a wolf pack.
Shortly after the wolf pack and contaminated dogs collided, and Sun-woo’s sword flew through the sky blowing away the head of the lion emitting vigor from behind.
“Damn. What guard.”
Michael made a dejected expression and reverse-summoned the gun.
Then sat down on the ground and watched the fight… no, massacre.
