The low-flying unmanned aircraft made a wide turn overhead then approached again at reduced speed.

And a voice came from the approaching drone.

It was a voice coming from the drone’s speaker.

The voice reached my ears through the noise of the drone’s propellers.

[This aircraft belongs to the US Army, United States Air Force. We have come to help you. Large-scale bombing will begin soon, so please move far away from the giant monster.]

The words from the speaker were in awkward Korean.

As soon as the words ended, several unmanned aircraft appeared in the eastern sky below the low clouds.

They were the same type of aircraft as the one flying around us now.

However, unlike the unmanned aircraft flying overhead, the wings of the newly appeared aircraft weren’t empty.

The wings of the newly appeared aircraft were loaded with many missiles.

The next moment, all those missiles were launched.

    Whoosh!

White smoke burst out from behind the missiles mounted on the aircraft wings.

Over ten simultaneously launched missiles began flying this way, creating trails of white smoke.

Fortunately the paralysis wore off before the missiles hit.

Though pain covered my whole body instead, I gritted my teeth and got up.

    “Run!”

Then I grabbed Zahina’s arm as she stared at the drone with surprised eyes and started running.

    Those crude US military.

I cursed at the suddenly appearing US military while running hard.

Though grateful they saved our lives appearing in a moment of crisis, seeing them launch missiles right after appearing, I couldn’t help but curse.

They should clearly know missiles without mana couldn’t even scratch that monster, yet they just launched missiles recklessly.

Moreover, explosives without mana were more dangerous to us living beings than to undead.

If the paralysis hadn’t worn off, I would have been hit by those missiles too.

    Whoosh!

The missiles passed over our running heads and plunged into the body of the octopus monster with its raised tentacles.

    Bang! Boom! Boom!

The explosions were far more impressive than expected.

They were explosions where we could feel the heat even from far away.

Plus they knocked down the giant octopus monster with explosions containing no mana at all.

    Rumble.

The monster caught in the explosions collapsed sideways, destroying several apartment buildings.

    Roar!

Though no wounds were visible on the fallen monster’s body, the octopus monster seemed very surprised by the fact it had fallen.

Tentacles emerging from the monster’s body swept the surroundings in all directions.

    Crash! Boom!

Buildings were destroyed and undead were shattered.

Rotting flesh scattered in the air and broken bones flew in all directions.

The missiles were more effective than expected.

Though they couldn’t deal actual damage, it was impressive enough just causing that much confusion.

Seems the US military wasn’t just crude after all.

Though the octopus monster couldn’t regain its senses from the sudden attack, there was an undead that quickly grasped the situation unlike the monster.

[Ha! Flying things from this world?]

The lich’s voice rang in my head again.

Seeing how it used it anytime, the voice magic seemed to be a habit.

    The lich’s words continued.

[I thought I’d cleared all the flying things in this land, could they have flown in from elsewhere? Even so, they’re things humans must ride, they can’t escape my hands!]

The moment the lich’s voice rose, black energy, death energy, shot up from across the street in the residential area.

    At tremendous speed.

Though it clearly looked like smoke, it wasn’t slower than the incoming missiles.

The death energy shot in multiple streams wrapped around the unmanned aircraft flying in the sky.

[Those without clerics or holy water appeared before me, now all die and become my servants!]

With those words, the black energy, death energy, seeped into the unmanned aircraft.

A bizarre sight where ordinary people unable to see death energy couldn’t tell what was happening.

I shook my head seeing that sight.

The death energy shot by the lich wasn’t ordinary death energy.

That death energy was magic processed by the lich that we called the lich’s poison gas.

Death energy, besides making dead people move, also hurt people.

That’s why people avoided places where death energy spread.

The death energy processed by the lich was magic that enhanced the power to hurt people dozens of times.

Being magically enhanced, it couldn’t spread like death energy, but could attack specific people and areas like now.

When we first met the lich and were attacked by that death energy, many soldiers really died.

With soldiers dying to an invisible attack from afar, people thought it was a poison gas type attack.

That’s why this magic was named ‘lich’s poison gas’.

Fortunately not long after, thanks to learning what kind of magic it was, soldier deaths sharply decreased, but many had died until then.

The lich’s magic played quite a big part in clerics coming to battlefields and soldiers carrying holy water.

Though it was such impressive magic and magic that had no counter in this world without clerics or holy water,

This magic had to be used on living people.

[Kaka, after I’ve taken down so many mayflies, more appear. This time instead of crashing them, I’ll make them land nicely and make monuments… What’s going on? Why are there no people inside?]

There couldn’t be people inside unmanned aircraft.

Perhaps because of that, the aircraft with death energy seeping in flew just fine.

I wondered why they sent unmanned aircraft where even radio waves barely work due to death energy, but there was a reason.

The US military had confirmed how the Korean military was defeated by the lich and sent unmanned aircraft here.

As expected, the US military was wise befitting the world’s strongest military.

I erased all my rude thoughts from earlier from memory at this moment.

And I launched myself toward where the death energy had risen.

Checking my sword while launching, I could only click my tongue.

I thought I was mistaken due to the paralysis, but that wasn’t it.

There was reason for the sword feeling light.

Only the handle remained of the greatsword.

The greatsword with precarious durability had cleanly broken.

Thinking of the money spent on this sword, my stomach hurt.

However, now wasn’t the time to think about that.

I threw the sword handle into my pouch and drew my longsword.

The opponent now didn’t need a greatsword.

The lich stood on a 4-story building rooftop looking up at the sky.

As always, it wore rags that could be thrown off immediately.

Being a skeleton in rags, its expression couldn’t be read, but it had complicated feelings now.

[How does it move without people? Is it something like a golem?]

When its magic didn’t work, the lich felt small curiosity amid irritation.

    Flying machines moving without people.

Even among the many wondrous things seen since coming to this world, there weren’t things like that.

‘Wonder if there were any among things I mindlessly destroyed.’

Recalling many machines destroyed while occupying the north of this peninsula and attacking the south, the lich felt regret after a long time.

If it had studied those machines, its magic could have developed further too.

Unfortunately, such thoughts didn’t occur when destroying enemies.

Though something was clearly wrong, the lich didn’t find it strange.

Because carrying out the Demon King’s orders was the most important task.

When the Demon King ruled the world, there would be plenty of time for research.

‘I can just get one next time I see it.’

Though it had such thoughts in the past too, the lich didn’t mind.

    There were still enemies remaining.

[If you think you can’t destroy them because there are no people, that’s a big mistake!]

The lich raised its bone-only hand.

Corrupted mana stirred and several large fireballs rose in front of the skeleton.

It looked like several small suns rising above the rooftop.

The lich looked at the fireballs and said in a satisfied voice.

    [Go!]

With the lich’s words, the fireballs shot toward each flying unmanned aircraft.

    Whoosh!

At tremendous speed. As fast as the death energy shown earlier.

Moreover each fireball moved separately to chase the aircraft.

It was an amount of mana and magic skill that would shock mages if they saw.

Of course, no mage would be surprised that a lich used such magic.

    Instead the aircraft seemed surprised.

Seeing the incoming fireballs, the aircraft urgently turned.

    Boom!

Unfortunately two aircraft that moved too late were hit by fireballs and fell trailing flames.

The remaining aircraft frantically increased speed to dodge the fireballs and barely managed to escape.

    [They’re quick to run away.]

The lich ridiculed the fleeing aircraft standing on the rooftop.

Though disappointed at not destroying them all, the lich was somewhat satisfied that magic from its human days was working properly after so long.

After confirming the aircraft disappearing into dots, the lich turned to look toward the octopus monster.

The octopus undead that had been causing havoc while fallen was getting up again.

Buildings were being destroyed again in the process, but neither the octopus monster nor the lich cared about those buildings.

Instead of the collapsing buildings, the lich glared at the aircraft hovering in front of the giant undead.

‘Should I take that one down too?’

Though all other aircraft had disappeared, one aircraft still remained in the sky.

The first aircraft that appeared was still there.

Magic made of death energy still didn’t work on it, and not wanting to disturb the giant undead’s nerves, it was an aircraft left alone.

The aircraft, now closer than before, was still making noise loudly.

Though it seemed like this world’s language, the lich couldn’t understand.

The translation magic it knew was magic cast on living beings.

If it had known machines could talk, it would have improved the translation magic, but unfortunately the lich had never seen talking machines while alive.

It didn’t need to cast magic again.

    Whoosh! Boom!

The giant undead that had gotten up sometime ago swung its tentacles and destroyed the aircraft.

‘Seems it dropped something before being destroyed… But why drop it near here?’

The aircraft that had been making noise earnestly dropped something before being destroyed by the tentacles.

Moreover it flew near the lich and dropped it instead of over the residential area it had been flying over.

The lich thought about sending an undead to check, but unfortunately there was no time to check.

Because a knight came up to the rooftop where it stood.

A small kingdom from that world.

A blonde man wearing knight armor of the Sorbia Kingdom.

The man grinned looking at the lich.

    “Finally we meet one-on-one.”
