Chapter 337 – Part 2 – Beating Them All
by Heavenly Cat“What, what?”
“That arrogant bastard!”
As the group members got fired up, Choi Seong-min’s eyes also changed.
“Calling your group leader a bastard… Clearly there’s a need to reform your mindset.”
For group members who can’t distinguish between superiors and subordinates, a beating is the medicine.
“Was it Choi Seong-min? To be putting on airs in this situation. I don’t know if you have guts or if your liver has popped out of your stomach…”
“I’m speaking quite seriously, but you call it putting on airs? Do I look like I’m joking to you?”
Perhaps reading Choi Seong-min’s serious gaze, Kang Chan-seong’s expression changed.
“You’re really saying you’ll take on all four of us at once?”
“That’s what would be balanced.”
“What kind of confidence is this? Do you even know what our combat power is?”
He didn’t know the names of the other group members so he couldn’t tell, but Kang Chan-seong came up when searched.
“You’re 200,000, aren’t you? The other group members would be below you, so there’s nothing to see.”
Since he had the highest combat power, that’s why he’d been group leader for 10 years, right?
“That’s right. The other guys are around 120,000 to 150,000.”
“You’re more pathetic than I thought.”
“That bastard…!”
Kang Chan-seong calmed down the agitated group members and looked at him with an incredulous face.
“You know our combat power and still won’t back down?”
“There’s no reason to back down against pathetic guys, is there?”
At Choi Seong-min’s continued provocation, Kang Chan-seong was also gradually getting heated.
‘What’s this bastard’s combat power that he’s acting like this?’
Even when searching for Choi Seong-min in the rankings, it only showed D-rank with 20,000.
There was no way to know unless he told them his actual combat power.
‘Seeing that he was put into Group B, he’s definitely B-rank…’
That meant he had at least surpassed 100,000.
‘Could it be similar to mine…?’
Kang Chan-seong soon erased the thought.
A guy who was 20,000 three weeks ago had raised his combat power to 200,000?
It was such nonsense that it wasn’t worth thinking about.
‘At most around 150,000.’
Actually, this was already giving him a high estimate.
‘Honestly, just becoming B-rank is already surprising.’
Who could skip two whole ranks in less than a month?
‘I acknowledge it’s an insane growth rate. But this is going too far.’
Taking on himself with 200,000 combat power and group members close to 150,000 simultaneously and winning?
It wasn’t unreasonable for Kang Chan-seong to think it was a joke.
‘He must be drunk on his own power, believing in his steep growth rate and unable to judge the situation…’
Grind-
Kang Chan-seong clenched his teeth tightly.
‘I’ll fix that arrogant attitude of his.’
Rather, he decided to reform his mindset himself and said.
“Good. Since you want it so much, we’ll all attack together.”
“Good.”
“Don’t change your words later saying it’s cowardly.”
“You just don’t beg for your life.”
“Arrogant bastard.”
Kang Chan-seong, who couldn’t stand it anymore and spat out curses, gestured and moved.
“Follow me. There’s a good place to fight.”
The place Kang Chan-seong guided them to was an open area behind the mansion.
“If we fight here, we won’t be disturbed.”
“Good.”
“Hmph, still confident as ever.”
“Because the opponents are easy.”
“Ha. Seeing you scratch my nerves until the end, you’re no ordinary guy.”
“You’re also not ordinary, seeing how you speak informally and pick fights with someone you just met.”
“This bastard… Whew.”
Kang Chan-seong controlled his breathing and calmed his mind.
He couldn’t get caught up in that guy’s pace.
‘He’s trying to provoke me to gain even a little advantage.’
He thought he was trying to work him over with words since he couldn’t do it with strength, but he was mistaken.
Choi Seong-min thought there was no need for that – he could just subdue them with force.
“How should we fight? Can we use weapons?”
“Who’s going to hold a funeral? What bitter words would we hear from the Great Hero?”
“Then?”
“Let’s not use hunter weapons or equipment. Skills are also forbidden. We’ll settle this with fists only.”
“No items, no skills…”
At the suggestion to fight only with physical stats, Choi Seong-min chuckled.
Because he could guess the intention.
“You must be quite confident in your strength?”
Even from appearance, Kang Chan-seong’s body was massive.
To anyone watching, Choi Seong-min would look pitiful.
Of course, physique was meaningless in a stat battle, but seeing him smile, he must be quite confident.
“I’m also confident in strength.”
Choi Seong-min had a trait that doubled his strength.
He also had a trait that doubled damage against hunters.
He also had a trait that increased his main stat by 30% when there were four hunters.
It meant he shouldn’t be taken lightly just because he wasn’t wearing items.
But Kang Chan-seong, who couldn’t know that fact, was looking down on Choi Seong-min completely.
‘Confident my ass. A mouse-like assassin acting tough.’
The fact that Choi Seong-min was an assassin was already known.
There was no way he could match the strength of himself, a strength warrior.
Kang Chan-seong turned his neck. He also clenched his fists. Threatening sounds came out.
‘I’ll use this opportunity to vent my anger and show him that we’re not all the same B-rank.’
He couldn’t acknowledge a brat who didn’t know his place and was climbing up as group leader.
The other group members seemed to think the same as they each warmed up their bodies.
“It’s still the same that you’ll face all four of us simultaneously, right? If you’ve changed your mind, even now you could kneel and…”
“It’s unchanged, so let’s start quickly. Don’t flap your mouth.”
“Ha, this guy until the end…”
“Should I go in first? Or will you come at me?”
“This bastard…”
“I’ll just go in first.”
Choi Seong-min moved.
Swoosh-
“Huh?”
In the blink of an eye, the distance was closed.
Close enough to hit immediately if he extended his fist.
Whoosh-
But when Kang Chan-seong threw his punch, Choi Seong-min was already kicking toward another target.
Thud-
“Keurk!”
As soon as a group member fell backward, Choi Seong-min’s fist hit another target.
Thud thud- Whoosh whoosh- Thud thud!
Dodge and hit, dodge and hit.
It was simple but required quick reflexes, strength, and technique, and Choi Seong-min had all three.
“Keuhk!”
“Ueok!”
“Keuk!”
The group members fell helplessly without being able to do anything.
Whether strength, reflexes, or technique.
There wasn’t a single area where they were ahead. They were pushed back in every aspect.
“This little rat!”
Kang Chan-seong rushed toward Choi Seong-min, but his results were no different.
As if he had eyes in the back of his head, he dodged everything he swung.
‘How, how is this happening? Why can’t I hit him!’
He tried to land even one hit, but it wasn’t easy.
While dodging like an eel, Choi Seong-min also hit the group members who were getting up and knocked them down again.
Ignoring Kang Chan-seong completely and thoroughly targeting only the group members… When Kang Chan-seong felt something was strange, the situation was already over.
“What, what?”
All group members except himself were lying on the ground groaning.
Sparks flew from Kang Chan-seong’s eyes.
“You bastard, you did it on purpose…”
“The main dish should be eaten last.”
Looking at Choi Seong-min approaching leisurely, he didn’t even seem tired.
“This brat!”
Kang Chan-seong’s massive fist flew toward his face.
If it hit properly, it would have the power to crush his nose bone.
But.
Clap-
Choi Seong-min raised his palm and blocked the fist.
So simply.
“Keuuk!”
He tried putting in all his strength, but Choi Seong-min didn’t budge.
Kang Chan-seong was quite shocked by that fact.
‘This bastard wasn’t an assassin?’
He suspected he might be a warrior pretending to be an assassin.
That’s how unbelievable it was that he was being pushed back in strength.
Thud-!
“Keurk!”
Before Kang Chan-seong, who was hit in the cheek and pushed back, could compose himself.
Thwack-!
“Kuk!”
A fist was driven into his abdomen. An uppercut struck his jaw hard. His skull shook.
Thud- Thud-
He was beaten without being able to come to his senses.
It didn’t take long for the massive body to fall.
Thump-!
“I, I lost.”
Kang Chan-seong admitted defeat.
Four of them had rushed in but couldn’t beat one person.
But he didn’t know.
That it wasn’t over just because he surrendered.
Thud- Thud-!
Choi Seong-min, who had climbed on top of his body, drove his fists down like hammers.
“St, stop! I surrender!”
“Who decided that?”
Choi Seong-min’s fists didn’t stop.
He raised his arms to protect his face, but.
“Ueok, ak!”
Each hit was as powerful as a hammer, so his arms hurt too.
“I lost! I said I lost! Stop!”
“It’s not over until my anger is relieved.”
His nose bone broke and his teeth cracked.
His face was full of bruises and his consciousness became hazy with each hit.
Then at some point the beating stopped.
Perhaps thinking this was enough, Choi Seong-min got up.
‘Is, is it over?’
However, contrary to Kang Chan-seong’s thoughts, he heard the sound of someone being beaten along with screams.
It seemed he was assaulting the group members lying down.
‘Fuck, what a demon!’
Curses came out internally, but there was nothing he could do.
He had been defeated and didn’t even have the strength to move.
But the real situation that warranted curses was separate.
Because Choi Seong-min came back and raised his fists again.
Thud- Thud-
“Kuk, st, stop!”
Thud- Thud-
“Keuk! Stop it! You, you’ve hit enough!”
The punching stopped briefly.
“No? I haven’t hit enough yet.”
Leaving such shameless words, he hit his face again.
Kang Chan-seong shouted desperately.
“St, stop! Do you think you’ll be safe doing this? What will the Great Hero say when he sees our state?”
“The Great Hero agreed to it though?”
“What…?”
“You heard it too. That they’re my group members so he’s leaving them to me.”
“…”
Choi Seong-min raised his fist.
“Sa, save me…”
Thwack-!
With those words, Kang Chan-seong lost consciousness.
* * *
“My, you really made a mess of them.”
Song Chi-hyeon, seeing the state of Group B, shook his head.
Everyone’s condition was terrible.
Traces of being unilaterally beaten.
He knew who did it.
Because the perpetrator had come to report honestly.
“You really faced four people alone?”
“That’s right. They said they couldn’t acknowledge me as group leader and wanted to fight, so I accepted. This is the result.”
“That’s it?”
“…Honestly, the match was decided long ago, but I hit them a bit more. I wanted to show them a lesson so they’d never dare climb up again.”
“This isn’t ‘a bit.'”
Teeth were all knocked out and faces were completely covered in bruises. Nose bones were crushed and cheekbones were caved in.
It was hard to find an intact face.
“I’m ashamed, Great Hero.”
“Ah, I’m not scolding you. These things can happen.”
Actually, Song Chi-hyeon had known this would happen.
From when Choi Seong-min said he had his own plans and asked to be left in charge.
‘I knew he would subdue them with force, but I didn’t know he’d destroy them this thoroughly…’
Looking at their condition, they’d need to be hospitalized for several days even with a healer.
“Since the group members are in this state, it can’t be helped.”
Song Chi-hyeon turned to Choi Seong-min and said.
“You’ll have to go soloing for a while until the group members recover. Will that be okay?”
“It can’t be helped.”
He said that, but it was what he’d been waiting for.
He had beaten them all up hoping for soloing from the beginning.
What bothers me about the story is that no character is relevant in any way. The targets are just there and that’s it, nothing more, and this was worse in the first part, at least in this one, if the heroes die it causes something in the world, but only them and they are still disposable. Another problem is that everything is a piece of cake for the MC, there is no difficulty in anything.
While I do agree to most of this I have to disagree that the heroes in the second part have more to them than the first part. I would argue that the revenge targets have more weight, there were some emotional stakes to them even if not much. Sure there might be more notable effects with the heroes but I don’t find them to have any more weight story wise. I intend to finish the novel just to see if it gets an alright end but it’s definitely getting a three stars on NU from me. It would get two but I do find myself enjoying the story from a car crash perspective.
