It seem like the old man doesn’t want conflict. It’s the Alliance aka the 8 families who do. I don’t get it. Desolate Sect wouldn’t even be messing with them if they maintain virtue, and keep the civilians safe.
But nope, they wanna achieve their greedy goals, and either turn a blind eye to innocents being oppressed or outright cause it, all while claiming justice and righteousness.
The murim in this story setting is quite in chaos. Initially, there’s no orthodox martial alliance, no Demonic Sect with a heavenly demon, just sects that have ties with demonic sect, also we have 13 evil sects which is quite wild. The presence of Imperial Murim Organization like Desolate Fortress fits so well in this setting.
What I find it interesting in this setting is when righteous family doing something wrong it looks very terrible. But when evil sect doing something wrong it looks like his nature, and when they’re doing something good it look like usual human being
