Chapter 243 – Kang Hyuk-su
by Heavenly CatThe first person to notice Min Do-jun’s appearance was the Asian man.
‘Huh?’
Just as Kang Hyuk-su raised his sword to execute Jeong Hye-won, the man saw it.
The figure of someone suddenly appearing out of thin air.
And simultaneously, he saw the message that appeared.
[Opponent’s Combat Power: 8,081,213]
‘That combat power is over 8 million?’
He could check combat power through the set effect of his enhanced legendary items.
‘With combat power exceeding 8 million…’
Even without seeing his face, he knew who it was.
‘M-Min Do-jun!’
The Asian man shouted urgently.
“Mr. Kang Hyuk-su! Dodge!”
It wasn’t out of concern.
He just didn’t want to lose his newly acquired subordinate so easily.
BOOM-!
Sure enough, Kang Hyuk-su was sent flying by Min Do-jun’s attack.
Fortunately, being a tank, he didn’t die, but now came the real problem.
‘Can the three of us-me, James, and Kang Hyuk-su-subdue him?’
Even combined, their combat power didn’t reach 6 million.
Not even close to Min Do-jun’s level.
‘That’s not human combat power.’
Just by watching his movement, he could tell.
Subduing him with speed alone would be impossible.
‘How did he even find this place?’
Even though he had predicted Kang Hyuk-su would kill the dark mage, he never expected Min Do-jun to appear.
‘The Chinese team definitely used teleport to kidnap them without a trace.’
Even with the famous Hunting Dog trait for tracking, one couldn’t follow teleportation.
The scent trail would be cut off midway.
‘Anyway, there’s no time. We need to escape quickly.’
He would have liked to make Min Do-jun his subordinate too.
But now wasn’t the time.
He wasn’t prepared for it.
‘I should only meet him after thorough preparation!’
It wasn’t easy to mentally dominate a hunter with 8 million combat power.
That’s when it happened.
His eyes accidentally met Min Do-jun’s.
Shiver-
He felt his hair stand on end from the shock.
“J-James!”
“Yes.”
“Let’s go back quickly!”
“What? What about Hunter Kang Hyuk-su?”
“I don’t care what happens to that bastard, let’s just run!”
“Ah, understood.”
James put away his halberd and grabbed the Asian man’s arm.
“Oh, wait a moment.”
Before disappearing, the Asian man didn’t forget to give one last order to Kang Hyuk-su.
“Mr. Kang Hyuk-su! No matter what happens, kill Min Do-jun!”
He didn’t expect a mere 1.4 million combat power hunter to actually kill Min Do-jun.
It was just an order to at least slow him down.
“Understood.”
Before Kang Hyuk-su could finish his answer, the Asian man and James vanished.
They had used teleport.
‘They’re gone.’
Min Do-jun watched from a distance.
He hadn’t deliberately let them go.
‘It’s hard to catch teleportation.’
Even Min Do-jun couldn’t hold onto someone who could disappear to the other side of the Earth in a second.
‘Looking at his face, it was definitely the man who ran away before.’
It was clearly the same Asian man who had approached with stealth on the day Jeong Hye-won was kidnapped.
‘I let him slip away right in front of me again.’
Still, Min Do-jun’s expression was more relaxed than before.
After all, he had already memorized both their scents with the Ghost Wolf.
‘If I hadn’t been monitoring the situation through Kang Hyuk-su’s perspective, I would have missed them again.’
How fortunate that he had placed Parasite on him.
He was able to assess the situation in advance and fly all the way to China to find Jeong Hye-won.
‘I’m glad I arrived in time. I almost came too late.’
Although he had let the mastermind of the kidnapping-the Asian man-escape, there was no rush.
‘I’ll deal with the current situation first and track him down later.’
Now that he had memorized the scent, he could track him to the ends of the Earth no matter where he went.
“D-Do-jun…?”
Jeong Hye-won, who had been prepared for death, looked with surprised eyes at the man who appeared unexpectedly.
“How did you get here? Ugh…!”
She groaned in pain from her severed ankles as Min Do-jun approached her.
“You’re bleeding heavily. It’s dangerous to leave you like this.”
“I was wrong. It’s dangerous here, even you should escape quickly…”
Ignoring her words, Min Do-jun picked up her severed ankles and pressed them against the cut surfaces.
“Ugh!”
“Please bear with the pain for a moment.”
A warm sensation spread around her ankles.
Jeong Hye-won’s complexion, which had been on the verge of collapse, returned to normal.
What happened next was even more astonishing.
“M-my feet… my feet are reattached.”
As Min Do-jun’s hands touched them, her severed feet were cleanly reattached without a single scar.
“How is it? Can you move your feet?”
“Y-yes, they move well.”
It was a healing ability that seemed like a lie.
“Do-jun, you also have healing abilities?”
“It’s a secret from others.”
Jeong Hye-won nodded with a serious expression.
If it was Min Do-jun’s request, she could keep the secret to her grave.
After all, he had not only saved her life but also healed her when she could have lived as a cripple for the rest of her life.
“Ah! But be careful. Kang Hyuk-su isn’t in his right mind right now.”
“I know. That much is obvious.”
The sight of Kang Hyuk-su approaching with murderous intent certainly didn’t look normal.
‘That Asian man must have some kind of mind control ability.’
There was no other explanation for the current situation.
A once-reliable ally was now following an enemy’s orders.
‘He seems to have changed like that from the moment he made eye contact with that man.’
Min Do-jun had seen it clearly through Kang Hyuk-su’s perspective.
The Asian man’s eyes turning purple.
‘I’ve never heard of a mind control trait, even before my regression…’
It was the same when Min Do-jun first regressed.
He hadn’t doubted his regression because he’d never heard of mind manipulation magic.
‘But it turns out such magic does exist?’
The evidence was Kang Hyuk-su, now glaring at him with a sword in hand.
‘Let me do a simple test.’
As Min Do-jun stepped forward, Kang Hyuk-su stopped walking.
“Mr. Kang Hyuk-su, it’s been a while. What a place to meet.”
“Min Do-jun.”
Since he called him by name, it seemed he wasn’t completely out of his mind.
“You remember me?”
“Of course. Who in Korea doesn’t know Min Do-jun?”
“You also remember us being in the same party, right?”
“Of course.”
It seemed his memories of Min Do-jun were intact.
‘At least his existing memories haven’t been altered.’
It didn’t appear to be a memory-manipulating type of mental magic.
“If you remember me, why are you showing such hostility? Did you have some grudge against me?”
“Nothing like that.”
“Then why…”
“I don’t know either. I just know that all I want is your life.”
Kang Hyuk-su raised his sword with murderous eyes.
“You want to kill me?”
“Yes.”
“Even if I beg for my life?”
“No matter what, you’re the one I must kill.”
Min Do-jun recalled the order the Asian man had left.
‘So he really intends to kill me no matter what.’
It seemed like a form of mental magic where memories remained intact but orders were strictly obeyed.
‘If he has to follow orders unconditionally, even if I subdue him, it would only be temporary.’
In the end, to avoid future trouble, he would have to kill Kang Hyuk-su.
‘I wanted to kill him anyway, so this works out.’
Despite his comrade’s betrayal, Min Do-jun’s lips curled into a smile.
He never considered him a comrade to begin with.
Just thinking about what Kang Hyuk-su had done before his regression still made his teeth clench.
Then a thought suddenly crossed his mind.
‘Could it be that back then, he was also under that man’s mind control? Is that why the coup happened…?’
It occurred to him that the Asian man might be the mastermind behind the coup.
At that moment, Kang Hyuk-su broke Min Do-jun’s contemplation.
“Min Do-jun. Any last words before you die?”
“…”
“Then I’ll have to kill you now.”
Kang Hyuk-su suddenly raised his shield and charged.
BOOM-!
The sound was loud, but Min Do-jun didn’t budge.
“He blocked it with his sword…?”
He had simply held up his sword, but it was as solid as a wall, not moving an inch.
‘Rampage.’
[Using Rampage.]
[All stats increased by 1.5 times.]
[Strength +7,331 Health +7,903
Agility +8,978 Magic Power +10,375]
[Time remaining: 4 minutes 59 seconds]
With Rampage activated, all his stats approached 30,000.
[Revenge trait effect: Damage increased by 2x.]
[Hunter Slayer trait effect: Damage increased by 2x.]
‘Whether he’s mind-controlled or not.’
Min Do-jun applied buffs to Excalibur.
Rainbow-colored Aura Blade enveloped the sword.
‘I can’t spare someone who’s desperately trying to kill me.’
Kang Hyuk-su charged with a shout.
“Die! Min Do-jun!”
As Kang Hyuk-su swung his sword like he was facing a mortal enemy.
Swish-
Min Do-jun dodged it lightly.
He raised Excalibur to counter.
‘I knew it.’
Anticipating this, Kang Hyuk-su pulled his shield up to his chest.
‘I blocked it…’
Kang Hyuk-su’s eyes widened as he thought he had blocked it.
CRAAAACK-!
Far from blocking it, his body was pierced right through the shield.
Thud-
[You have killed Hunter Kang Hyuk-su.]
[You have stolen the trait ‘Dragon Strength.’]
[You have stolen 15 pieces of equipment.]
[You have stolen 8 Magic Stones.]
[You have absorbed the target’s corpse.]
[Health is being restored.]
Kang Hyuk-su’s body disappeared.
Min Do-jun didn’t care either way.
He was only interested in the trait and items he had acquired.
[Trait – Dragon Strength]
– Grade: S
– Description: Physical damage increases by an amount equal to your Health stat.
‘So this is why Kang Hyuk-su had high damage despite being a tank.’
It was a good trait, but it wouldn’t significantly increase his damage.
Min Do-jun relied more on magical damage than physical damage.
‘Besides, I’m already absurdly strong.’
He had killed Kang Hyuk-su in one hit without even using his full power.
Perhaps that’s why obtaining the trait didn’t excite him much.
He felt no emotional response even after committing murder.
“Do-jun…”
Only Jeong Hye-won watched the situation with shocked eyes.
“You understand it was unavoidable, right?”
She nodded at Min Do-jun’s words.
She was also aware that Kang Hyuk-su had been mind-controlled.
“What do we do now?”
“What else? We need to go home.”
He had completed his revenge in an unexpected situation.
And unintentionally discovered the mastermind behind the incident.
‘As much as I’d like to track him down immediately…’
He would have to wait 24 hours before he could ride the Ghost Wolf again.
‘For now, I need to return to Korea with Jeong Hye-won.’
After that, once the 24-hour cooldown on the Ghost Wolf skill ended.
‘I’ll go find him.’
He would go after the Asian man.
There was much he wanted to ask him.
Sloppy writing from the author
It was completely unnecessary to kill him, especially knowing that he is being controlled. The MC’s strength is enough to subdue him without killing him. It was just a forced script, and the author made a huge mistake on this one. Even because the “standard” that the MC claims to have was completely useless.
Fully agree. Hyuk-su wasn’t a perfect person but it’s fucking obvious that whatever Coup happened/happens was because of this mind control guy. The entire thing was all this guys work and even then it hasn’t fucking happened yet. I’m going to keep reading because junk food novels are enjoyable even when they’re annoying but that makes four targets, not to mention something like a dozen people, that just didn’t need to die..
